The first area of research in my laboratory is to understand transport and force generation by molecular motors, as well as force generation by cytoskeletal filament bundles. The aim of our inter-disciplinary research is to understand these biological systems/phenomena using physical and computational modeling. We mainly use Monte-Carlo modeling to develop computational models for biological systems/phenomena. We work with experimentalists very closely to develop, test and further refine the models. This helps us to understand and help interpret experimental results as well as guiding further experiments by making experimentally testable predictions.

The second area of research is in-silico studies of potential anti-cancer and anti-leishmania compounds. We use a combination of computational approach consisting of virtual screening, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations to identify new potential anti-cancer and anti-leishmania compounds. We have been working with experimentalists very closely to test our predictions.

The third area of research is to understand molecular reasons for development of drug-resistant in cancerous cells. We again use a combination of computational approach consisting of homology modeling, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations to identify the molecular reasons behind the development of drug resistance.
